Healthier Halloween Ideas

For most people, Halloween means dressing up in costumes and CANDY! The kids get candy at parties, festivities, school and of course on Halloween night. Thankfully, many people have recognized that sugar is not good for you and have decided to do something about it. Have you heard of the teal pumpkin project? Houses with teal pumpkins have non-candy treats! I believe this is such a wonderful idea.

My husband won’t let us participate in that project (he claims our house will get egged). However, the last few years, I have compromised. We have provided candy and non-candy treats. Some of my non-candy favorites are listed below.

Another wonderful non-candy idea is the “switch witch”. Have you heard of her? She is a witch that leaves presents in exchange for Halloween candy. So, Halloween night, I have my children set most of their candy outside their room and the “switch witch” leaves them a note and a present. This is a great way to get rid of most of their candy! Do you do anything like this?
