My son made his First Communion this past weekend and I wanted to share some things we did to help make the day extra special.
First, my wonderful and way more crafty mother helped us make a Communion banner that would be carried into church and hung on the pew.
Next, we shopped for an outfit. I didn’t see many girls’ Communion dresses, but thankfully we just needed a suit this year. Kohl’s had everything we needed. We picked out a gray suit, lilac tie, belt, shoes and socks.
I thought it would be fun to have a white theme of sweets and decorations for after dinner.
The star of the table was a delicious cake made by our neighbor. I purchased a cross chocolate mold and we made white chocolate crosses. We also made white chocolate covered strawberries and pretzels.
I attempted to make my aunt’s delicious sugar cookies, but fell a little short.
My mom made pizzelles and my little man decided to turn them into a flower!
My mom made kolachi, which is a Slovak nut roll (sort of like a bread version of kiffles).
We also decorated the house in white and with First Communion decorations. However, can you tell we enjoy food? The whole post is almost all food! What did you do to help make a First Holy Communion even more special? I’d love to hear it in the comments below or post a picture on my Facebook page!
Blessings,
Stephanie
